A smaller deflation-inflation (DI) cycle marks the first half of the week on Kīlauea volcano, following on the heels of a larger cycle last week. Lava continues to erupt into Halemaʻumaʻu crater: New: - Lava depth slightly decreases to 214 m / 702 ft - Shorter DI signal already shows rising tilt - Only ~1 day of deflation this cycle vs 4 days last week - Deep dive on the Hawaiian “hot spot” For the current eruption, we review publicly available USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory data streams & imagery from while providing geologic context and annotation.
