Lava-rafts float down the lava channel as the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) begins imposing new arbitrary rules enforced on members of the community, and the county talks about establishing an approved lava viewing area. This series tells one version of the 2018 Kilauea eruption on the Lower East Rift Zone, where lava erupted in a residential neighborhood. The story is told through available footage from many sources, including USGS, Hawaii Count Civil Defense, DoD, National Guard, DLNR, and private citizens. This series will go through each day of the eruption and tell the story from the lens of a Leilani Estates resident.
