Kīlauea Eruption Update, Day 4: December 24, 2020

In this Christmas Eve update, we review new photos and videos of the ongoing eruption, where the filling lava lake has all but submerged the main eruptive vent. We review filling rates, effusion and eruption rates, and estimates of when the lake will be visible from public overlooks. As always we review monitoring signals, including the bad air widespread across Hawaiʻi Island in the last 2 days.
